AP all time best college football programs (Updated)

FSU checks in at No. 9. Ahead of both Florida and Miami.

The AP poll began in 1936. We didn't even field a team until 1947.
Thus we missed out on the first 11 years of the poll.

The poll wasn't always the Top 25.
1936-1960 It was the Top 20
1961-1967 It was the Top 10
1968-1988 It was the Top 20
1989-Present It's been the top 25.

Our first week in the poll was Oct 12, 1964. (Ironically, we were ranked #9)
Thus the poll was 28 years old before we made our first appearance.

We've blown by a number of teams in the last 52 years.

As for beating all the top 10 at one time or another, I'll give you a parallel stat.
(Probably has the same teams)

FSU has been ranked No. 1 72 times. LSU, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee COMBINED have been ranked No. 1 72 times. ... Crazy stuff.

LSU - first game played in 1893
Auburn - first game played in 1892
Tennessee - first game played in 1891
UGA - first game plated in 1892

    I say put a plaque up in the Moore Center dubbing us:

    "AP Poll's All-Time Best Programs
    Florida State University
    State Champs"

    Just to piss off UF and Miami fans who cried about us putting "State Champs" on our bowl rings.
