It was the fourth game of the series that started in 1958. Gators had won 3 straight and refused to play n Tallahassee. Gator coach Ray Graves said the tie felt like a, “death in the family.”
I remember it well. It was the first FSU game I attended and I watched the brawl at the end. Lot of teeth and blood. Security couldn't get it to stop, so the Marching Chiefs played "Dixie" (Back in '61, everyone stopped what they were doing when Dixie was played. Did stop anyone. They finally turned on the sprinklers and the fighting stopped.
That was the day I became a Nole.
