FSU Picks
2016 - 2 (1 first round)
2017 - 4 (0 first round)
I am thrilled FSU is beating teams with more drafted players, especially UF and Miami. A bit concerned that FSU has fallen off in the draft the last two.

Most NFL draft picks since 7-round format started in 1994:
147 - Ohio St
140 - Florida St
131 - Florida
128 - USC
127 - Miami
120 - Alabama
2013 we had 11 players drafted
2014 we had 7 players drafted
2015 we had 11 players drafted
2016 we had 2 players drafted
2017 we had 4 players drafted
We've had 35 players drafted over a 5 year period! I don't understand what more could be expected. For reference purposes, Bama's had 41, OSU (33), UF(35), USC (22), Miami (22), Clemson (30) and LSU (35). So we are tied with UF and LSU for the second most players drafted since the 2013 Draft. And it can't be ignored that we whipped UF 4 years in a row and LSU hasn't sniffed a championship of any kinds during that period.

2017 NFL Draft Picks -- High School Football State:
29- Georgia
27- Florida
26- California
24- Texas
16- Ohio
15- Louisiana
Not concerned about the 2016 draft only having 2. There simply weren't many FSU guys available to be drafted and i believe it was the first draft after we set the record for draftees over a 3-year span. And while we recruit top 5-level good, we're a tick off Alabama and Ohio state levels that have 6+ guys drafted every year it seems.
ReplyDeleteThis year's draft is somewhat disappointing. Granted, the guys who weren't drafted, i wouldn't have wanted my NFL team to draft. They weren't a greatly talented class for FSU despite a couple clear headliners.
Next year *should* be much better. James, Thomas, Nnadi, Sweat, McFadden, Pugh, maybe Marshall and Leonard.
That's crazily defensive-heavy. So this year really is our year to make a title run (i doubt we do). Our 2018 defense will be trash with garbage Kelly.
Crazy that FSU had 29 players in 3 years and only 6 the next 2 years. That said, this really needs to be a playoff type year for the Noles, IMO. If not, time for a new DC.
ReplyDeleteGreat points. I don't disagree.
