New COE Dean

"J. Murray Gibson, the founding dean of the Northeastern University’s College of Science, who is credited with raising millions of dollars in education funding, is the new dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.
The announcement was made Wednesday by Florida A&M University Provost Marcella David and Florida State University Provost Sally McRorie.
Prior to his role as founding dean, he served as a professor in one of the nation’s top 10 engineering schools, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he trained 15 doctoral students.
Gibson stepped down as dean effective last June, ending his five-year tenure at the top. He begins at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering July 1.
Gibson earned his BSc in natural philosophy at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and his PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge, England.
Gibson was among five finalists for the post, including the acting dean, Bruce Locke, and Emmanuel Collins, chairman of the college's mechanical engineering department.
The new dean will be an employee of FAMU."
