Residence of Alumni by Florida Counties - FSU vs. UF

https://floridastate.forums.rivals.com/threads/residence-of-alumni-by-florida-counties-fsu-vs-uf.93863/

For anyone interested, I pulled some of the main Counties in the State of Florida, including the the home county for each school (Leon & Alachua) to see which county/city had the largest number of FSU & UF alumni base and this is what I found:

Broward: Florida State University (14,138) vs. University of Florida (18,842)
Miami-Dade: Florida State University (11,828) vs. University of Florida (17,034)
Hillsborough: Florida State University (11,825) vs. University of Florida (15,640)
Duval: Florida State University (10,700) vs. University of Florida (13,858)
Palm Beach: Florida State University (10,669) vs. University of Florida (14,424)
Orange: Florida State University (10,565) vs. University of Florida (15,360)

Leon: Florida State University (38,150) vs. University of Florida (4,447)
Alachua: Florida State University (2,562) vs. University of Florida (29,708)

Ranking for FSU:
1) Leon - Tallahassee
2) Broward - Ft. Lauderdale
3) Miami-Dade - Miami
4) Hillsborough - Tampa
5) Duval - Jacksonville
6) Palm Beach - Delray & West Palm
7) Orange - Orlando

Ranking for UF:
1) Alachua - Gainesville
2) Broward - Ft. Lauderdale
3) Miami-Dade - Miami
4) Hillsborough - Tampa
5) Orange - Orlando
6) Palm Beach - Delray & West Palm
7) Duval - Jacksonville

Other than Leon county, we are outnumbered in every major city in the state of Florida, which is probably not too shocking considering FSU has an enrollment of 41,000 students vs. UF who has an enrollment of 51,000 students.

The numbers I would like to see & I can't find them anywhere are:
1) Number of total FSU Alumni Association members by county or city
2) Number of total FSU Booster members by county or city

It would be awesome if anyone has the numbers for the above questions and could share it here.

Go Noles!

Can't seem to remember where I found the numbers for FSU (did this a couples months back, wrote it all out, but it seems there have been some changes to FSU's website). Of course UF's info is a lot easier to find since their web page is a bit more easier to navigate.

UF's numbers - http://www.urel.ufl.edu/economicImpact/

I'll keep searching…

These numbers are from 2012 and I believe were posted by DemocraticNole....

Here's some more current UF data: https://www.ufalumni.ufl.edu/gatorclubs/admin/docs/dl/?file=42

In typical Gator fashion, their Gainesville club is called Titletown Gator Club

Yes, I can get the number of Seminole Boosters by county and post it. There is not a link.
I don't know if I can get the number of Gator boosters by county but I will ask my colleagues over yonder if they will provide it. Last I checked, they do have more Boosters than we do but its not by much. The difference is in the dollars their Boosters donate (about $23 million to $18 million) as their per-seat requirements are MUCH higher than even our new policy.

  1. Good stuff! See, this is why those maps showing which team "owns" each county are so misleading... UF would claim every county but Leon, yet FSU probably is within 70% of UF in just about all of them.

  2. I get your point, but for clarification:

"Number of counties where FSU has the majority: 18/67
Number of counties where UF has the majority 49/67 "
