Athletic Facilities notes (update)

"I remember @jamnolfin mentioning that it would be cheaper to just build new becuase the cost of renovating would include updating everything from inside out to appease new codes that Doak is grandfathered into. It would be a complete gut job it seems like. And to answer you first question, It seems like the likely place would be in the parking lot sandwiched in between the practice fields and Stadium Dr./ Pensacola intersection. With it being 3+ floors tall since space will be really tight. The other place could be where the band practices next to the circus. "

Plus the cost of moving all existing offices until project is finished. Remodeling the Moore might not be the less costly option.

As a grateful (somewhat nerdy) sports-goer I'm pretty excited FSU is in a new era of athletic facility planning. To help understand I cobbled together a summary of improvements over the past 15-years from the FSU Facilities Department and a little bit from the newspaper. Certainly I'm missing things (and could use help on that) but here are the major projects and renovations identified so far-

Btw, the Facilities Quarterly Update provides some excellent project visualizations, FSU has some really great people getting all of this done.

- They've met with Coach Taggart on the Football Operations facility. Looks like the new plan is to squeeze in a 155,000sqft facility in place of the narrow parking lot that's immediately between the football practice facility and Stadium Dr. They're probably looking at $75-85M as a fundraising goal for the Boosters.
