Auburn football makes $50.7 million in profit

According to the school’s annual financial report obtained by the Opelika-Auburn News on Wednesday, Auburn football made a roughly $50.7 million profit. The program generated $92.5 million in total revenue with operating expenses at $41.8 million.

Auburn football’s total revenue also marked a roughly $6.2 million increase from the $86.2 million it made during the previous fiscal year.

Collectively, Auburn athletics made $140 million in total revenue with operating expenses at $124.8 million to give the school a $15.2 million profit overall. Based on the report, Auburn’s 2015-16 fiscal year lasted from July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016.

For Auburn, it’s the second straight year in which its athletic department has reported a profit after making $9 million during the 2014-15 fiscal year.
