25 Years Of Modern NFL Draft...Who's Winning?
It has been a quarter of a century since the NFL transitioned to a seven-round NFL Draft (1994). With that, I wanted to see which schools have been the most successful at churning out professional players.
NOTE: I only used current Power-5 schools to save time, and it is unlikely that any school outside of said conferences would have much of an impact. If anybody has the time/determination to uncover the data from such a school, please let me know.
NOTE: I included selections in the Supplemental Draft so, technically, the 2018 draft cycle isn't officially complete.
Scoring System:
1st Round: 7 Points
2nd Round: 6 Points
3rd Round: 5 Points
4th Round: 4 Points
5th Round: 3 Points
6th Round: 2 Points
7th Round: 1 Point
Positional Structure:
-Quarterbacks
-Running Backs/Fullbacks
-Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
-Offensive Line
-Front Seven* (Defensive Tackles, Defensive Ends, & Linebackers)
-Defensive Backs
-Special Teams (Kickers, Punters, & Long Snappers)
*Often, college DT's are listed as DE's in the draft, and the same goes for college DE's being listed as OLB's. Instead of determining whether to categorize them based on college position or by draft position, I combined all position groups under one category.
