Conference Network financials

Quick notes from podcast link below:

*Big 10 last year ( or year before) made $8.1 million per YEAR per TEAM .

*SEC estimate has per YEAR per TEAM figure at $19 Million.

*Big 10 estimates it's network will soon be at $19 million per YEAR per TEAM figure.

*Suggests ACC network won't make revenue.  (This is my suspicion.  We see an ACC network where they squawk about exposure and brand and ignore there is little to no money made.....which is the whole point).

Let's hope the ACC gets a conference network WITH revenue.....and soon.  If not, $10-$20 million per YEAR per TEAM figure difference will push VA or UNC teams to other conferences and the ACC cracks open.

How is SEC Network different from the Big Ten Network and Pac-12 Networks? Is Fox poised to take on ESPN?

  1. Given that the ACC is the 3rd most-watched conference (and well ahead of #5 Pac-12), it's hard to imagine any way that an ACC Network would NOT make money.

  2. I get that perspective.....but I also know the ACC is behind all other conferences here and the people in this podcast report on the business of college sports, so they aren't just folks off the street. I am more of the, I'll believe it when I see it. Right now, the ACC Network existing an producing significant revenue are in doubt. We all hope that is disproved soon.
