hat's reflected in Florida State University's No. 5 ranking of "best athletic facilities' in the 2019 edition of The Princeton Review's Annual College Rankings.
High marks also were given for the university's health services, an active student government, its theater programs, intramural sports and a healthy Greek life, all helping to land FSU in the top 20 in eight categories of the survey, all based on students response.
In last year’s Princeton Review Guide, FSU placed in one top-20 list: “Students Pack the Stadiums.”
But what about the No. 1 “party school” ranking FSU earned in 1997?
FSU barely broke the top 20 in the category heard around the world.
It places 19th  in the 2019 edition. The University of Florida came in a notch above at No. 18.
FSU didn’t rank in the top 20 “party schools” in 2018, but did rank No. 20 in 2017.
It was No. 15 in 2016 and No. 12 in 2015.
“We are great fans of Florida State University’s academic programs as well as their facilities, but we are biggest fans of their students,” Franek said.
“FSU has been in the book every year since its inception, which is 27 years,” he added.
As for the “party schools” placement, Franek said, “FSU has been in loftier spots.”
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Sally McRorie, in response to the party school designation, said:
“We’re glad our students have fun and enjoy attending FSU, but our record-setting, best-in-state, four-year graduation rate and other recent indicators clearly reflect our students’ dedication to academic success."
University officials remain focused on the annual U.S. News & World Report top university rankings. FSU edged closer to its goal of becoming a top 25 public university last year, placing No. 33.
