Update: Effort to remove Thrasher from FSU pool fails

"Florida State University faculty and students were unanimous in their opposition to considering controversial state Sen. John Thrasher to be the university's next president, but they represent only one-third of the search committee.
A move to remove Thrasher this afternoon failed by an 18-8 vote, with faculty and students united in their opposition.
Thrasher will be among the candidates interviewed Monday and Tuesday. Interim FSU President Garnett Stokes also is on that list, but Florida Supreme Court Justice Ricky Polston and state Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda were not recommended.
Original Update:
Florida State University's meeting today to identify semifinalists for the school's next president has been suspended in the wake of student protests.
After a motion to urge FSU's trustees to restructures the search committee failed by a 24-2 vote, students began what appeared to be a planned, vocal call-and-response in opposition to the committee's work.
The committee has since resumed."
