Nova, HCA hospital project proposed again

""If it's just looked at as another community hospital, it will be turned down again," Hanbury said. "What we're talking about is a $150 million, 100-bed research hospital to complement research on campus."

"HCA and Nova want the hospital to anchor an "Academical Village," a 31-acre site along University Drive and Southwest 36th Street that would include medical facilities, retail space, residential areas for hospital workers and, ultimately, a hotel. The site now houses a strip mall

HCA officials are moving forward with a 10,000-square-foot emergency care facility there that could one day connect to a larger hospital. The project doesn't require state approval."
NSU to open $80 million research center

"Nova Southeastern University is expanding its role in research, building a new $80 million facility that could boost South Florida's efforts to become a hub for studies of cancer, heart disease and other problems.

The Center for Collaborative Research, which will be housed on the Davie campus, will feature one of the state's largest "wet labs," which can store chemicals, drugs and biological materials, officials said. Groundbreaking is planned for Thursday, with construction expected to be complete by early 2016.

The center is expected to enhance and expand NSU research in areas such as cardiovascular disease, anti-cancer therapies, chronic fatigue syndrome and autism, officials say."
