FSU Professor Receives Money for Autism Research

FSU Professor Receives Money for Autism Research

"FSU researchers receive $10.4 million to implement a community based approach to early intervention for children with autism.

They were given the money by the National Institute of Mental Health.

The team, led by Professor Amy Wetherby, will be enlisting the help of black churches and federally funded nutrition programs to identify young children who may show signs of autism.
Identifying autism early can reduce the challenges of the disorder, which range from mild social impairment to intellectual and language disabilities.
Wetherby and her colleagues are hoping to make early screening and treatment more widely available."
