City reviews preliminary plans for Gaines Street grocery

"
“We have a conceptual site plan put together,” said Summit Group CEO Claude Walker, who hopes to name a grocery store for the location by mid-summer.
The lot is occupied by Culpepper Construction and Carlstedt Florist, on the south side of Gaines Street and east side of Railroad Avenue. If the grocery store is built, it would be sandwiched between The Deck Apartments and the Garages on Gaines Street, which includes Grasslands Brewing Co.
According to the application, “Pedestrian access along Gaines Street will connect with a broad north/south sidewalk network that runs along the east facade of the grocery store and connects with the parking field in the rear. This sidewalk will include street trees and street furnishings and serves as the primary entrance to the grocery store. Special pavement that reflects the Gaines Street design pattern will be utilized to connect the two sidewalks.”"
