ESPN conference narrative never dies

Funny, ESPN totally ignored conference when the ACC owned the SEC at the regular end of season ACC vs SEC matchups.  Now time to shill for the conference again.

Interesting Swofford game plan for the ACC to be owned by the SEC network.  Good for ESPN, because ACC never seems to give a shit when it is treated like the red headed step child.  Always content with meal scraps.

Notice that for the Seminoles almost half of their recruiting class is "blue chip" (either 4 or 5 stars). For Clemson, it's the majority of their class. Miami and UNC are both about 1/3rd blue chip, and the rest of the league is trying to build with just 3 star players.

Contrast that with our most recent recruiting update, which showed lots of teams loaded with 4 and 5 star players [LINK]."

"It is true that every national champion in this century has had more four- and five-stars signed in the previous four classes than two- and three-stars."

"But the key there is four years. Florida State was at 60 percent entering this year, and it will likely be around 60 percent over the last four classes once this class signs. That will keep FSU in the top five nationally, where it has been through much of Jimbo Fisher’s time.

This year’s class is different. While it lacks the depth of the 2016 class (18 blue chippers), the 2017 class has better talent at the high end. The 2016 class had just one player inside the top 30 nationally.

 

"Rankings are damn good, and getting better. If you make it a habit of consistently taking more two- and three-stars than four- and five-stars, you will not compete on the biggest of stages. But FSU is not consistently doing that. There’s also a chance that with top prospects like Marvin Wilson, Jarez Parks, Devonta Smith, Henry Ruggs, Levi Jones, Hamsah Nasirildeen, and Maleik Gray still on the board, FSU could absolutely still sign more four- and five-stars than two- and three-stars.

FSU is likely to finish somewhere between 4th and 6th nationally. The group of teams out-recruiting FSU by any appreciable margin is very small, consisting only of Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia, the last of which has not done so for an extended time. "

College Town Phase III moves forward

"The Florida State University Board of Trustees on Monday approved a request by the Seminole Boosters to issue taxable debt up to $46 million that will go toward the construction of College Town Phase III and refinancing Phase I.
Phase I and Phase II are already complete. Phase III is a seven-story mixed-use development for student housing with 129 units making up 300 beds. It will have a parking facility for 500 spaces, 3,700 square feet of student innovation space and a coffee shop.
The  Seminole Boosters received approval of its financial plan from its board and the Florida State University Real Estate Foundation. The taxable debt request goes before the Florida Board of Governors next week. If the BOG approves the plan, permitting and groundbreaking is slated to begin in the spring."

ACC TV contract is weak?

So last week's FSU/Duke basketball game with two top 10 teams wasn't on the ESPN main channels.  They had a Missori/Bama game on I believe.

Once again, Swofford gets called a NINJA, but we have never seen the $$$$, we have no ACC talk heads at Bristol while SEC has dozens, and our exposure is pathetic by comparison.
