Check this out, gang:
50% of football viewership comes from just 18 teams
In updating TV data to add in this year, I continue to be amazed by how heavily concentrated viewers are among so few brands pic.twitter.com/F5P1zG8ZlM
Top 101 CFB TV Games of 2023-24
Only 2 ACC football games drew more than 9 million viewers, and both were FSU-vs-SEC. Not a good look for the ACC!
The ACC Championship had more than 7 million viewers, which is fine given that it wasn't a particularly flashy match-up this year.
The 5 to 7 million viewer range had the Clemson/FSU game, plus 3 of the ACC-vs-Notre Dame games, plus a couple of the ACC/SEC games.
Our first ACC game not involving either Florida State or Notre Dame is Clemson/Duke, which was one of five games in the 4 to 5 million viewer range. This is where Miami starts to appear also.
There were seven ACC-related games - plus two more Notre Dame games - in the 3 to 4 million viewers range (actually, perhaps more than that, since the OP cut off at 3.19 million viewers). Big surprise: the lowest of these was Notre Dame vs Clemson!
The big problem for the ACC: not a single game made the top 100 without involving one of Florida State, Notre Dame, or Clemson. If the league wants to have a long-term future, more fans need to watch more ACC football - it's just that simple!
