I have the idea Dave Hart was instrumental to major improvements to the FSU sports complex. It's hard to believe but not so long ago the softball team played on the intramural field off Gaines and the soccer team played across from Tully next to the giant ditch. They get a beautiful new facility and before long - National Champions.
And Dave hired some good coaches, of 17 teams 7 current coaches came in under him. I think the Director's Cup scores trace back to work during his tenure.
But I suppose Type A personalities have a shelf life and when it runs out it runs out it runs out hard i.e. our pal Jimbo.
It's a different era now. Stan Wilcox is the king of spending; facility dollars have skyrocketed along with a rising annual budget. I see him as a good CEO working to optimize the sports programs and steer a steady course but not so much innovator or communicator. (btw, I would love to see the AD annual budgets over the years)
Red x, my brother.
ReplyDeleteThat said, FSU's athletics Wikipedia page lists our finishes.
DeleteWe pretty good. I expect another top 10 finish this year.
Still a red x? I've tested on 2 devices and 3 browsers and looks good on my end.
DeleteNope. It's showing up now.
DeleteOh, that list is only current coaches? It doesn't include all head coaching hires over that span. In that case, the women's cross country and women's distance runners coach, Kelly Phillips, isn't listed (2015).
Interesting list. Curious what the specific facilities costs are for. Feel like I've seen a list recently but not sure where.
Was there a point being made about the coaches, or was it strictly for informational purposes?
FSU 10th in the directors cup standings updated on June 7th.
Great add. Thanks. Squiffy gave update that may answer your questions. He has great info.
DeleteThat's the exact chart i recall seeing. You must've posted that recently elsewhere on the site.
DeleteAre they saying Dave Hart wore out his welcome and/or burned himself out? Because he was forced out by tk wetherell and made the scapegoat for the music class incident.
An incredibly minor incident in retrospect when compared to the crap unc and psu were doing, and yet unc got off largely Scott free and psu was given its wins (and scholarships?) back.
One of tk's several blunders.
Near the end of Hart's run as A.D. the directors cup started counting both indoor and outdoor track in its rankings. Prior to that it either combined them into one score or only used the top score (something along those lines). FSU was pretty good at track and we saw a consistent bump in the rankings after that.
