ACC per-school distributions to its 14 football members averaged $26.6 million in FY17

The tax document reported Swofford’s total compensation as $3.3 million. That’s second only to the Pac-12’s Larry Scott ($4.8 million) among Power Five commissioners.

The ACC’s average distribution to 14 full-time members of $26.6 million was last among the Power Five — with only 10 schools, the Big 12’s average distribution was $34.3 million, the latter figure from USA Today’s Steve Berkowitz.

Mean per-school shares for the other Power Fives, according to USA Today, were: Southeastern Conference $40.9 million, Big Ten $37 million and Pacific 12 $30.9 million.

Atlantic Coast Conference had $418.1 million in total revenue for FY17, its new tax return shows. That's a 12% increase over total for FY16.

ACC commissioner John Swofford credited with $3.3 million in total compensation for 2016 calendar year ($3.15 million in base salary). First time he's been over $3 million.
New amount is $320,000 more than his total for 2015, including a $220,000 increase in base pay.

ACC distributions in FY17 ranged from $30.7 million for Clemson to $25.3 million for Syracuse. Conference has equal basic revenue sharing, but distributions reflect amounts schools receive to offset bowl/CFP expenses. Clemson played in 2 CFP games, won title in 2016 season

--Big 12: Roughly $34.3M per school except Baylor
