Over the course of 14 seasons from 1987 to 2000, the Seminoles had a 152-19-1 record, winning 88 percent of their games. FSU won national championships in 1993 and 1999 and finished No. 2 twice and No. 3 five times.
The 1987 FSU team finished 11-1, which started 14 consecutive seasons with 10 or more victories, the longest such streak in college football history. The Seminoles finished in the top five of the final Associated Press Top 25 poll every season from 1987 to 2000. After joining the ACC in 1992, FSU won its first 29 conference games and didn't lose to a league foe until a 33-28 defeat at Virginia on Nov. 2, 1995. FSU won ACC titles in each of its first nine seasons in the league.

Some say the greatest streak in college football history is Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak in the mid-1950s, but in my opinion, Florida State's 14 year streak of top 4 finishes in the AP poll 1987-2000 is much more remarkable. They dropped to #5 in the fixed poll for 1994, but still, 14 straight years of finishing in the top 5 is something no other team has come remotely close to accomplishing. So I'm calling this the greatest run in college football history. Here's how they finished over those 14 years:

The only problem with that is that FSU has been to 35 straight bowl games, including the one the Seminoles will be playing in this season. The NCAA vacated FSU's 2006 Emerald Bowl victory over UCLA due to an academic issue that led to more than 30 players being suspended for the Music City Bowl against Kentucky the following season.
*Sorry Va Tech, I won't abide by NCAA's ruling when PSU got all their wins. It is a BS way of handling things anyway.
