FSU Online programs ranked high

Three of Florida State University’s programs placed in the top 10 and five graduate programs in the top 20, according to a ranking of online programs released  Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.
Scoring high in FSU’s online graduate programs were: education (No. 3), criminal justice (No. 7) and non-MBA business (No. 9).
The university’s online MBA program increased to No. 16, up 28, in the review, while online graduate programs in information technology (No. 11) and nursing (No. 43) also showed strong gains.

“We are thrilled that every one of FSU’s online programs placed in the Top 50,” Robert Fuselier, interim director of the Office of Distance Learning, said in a release.
“The remarkable gains in the rankings, especially by our information technology, MBA and nursing online graduate programs, reflect the dedication our faculty and staff have toward providing a high-quality educational experience for our students,” Fuselier said.
The University of Florida retained its No. 1 ranking for its online graduate education program. FSU’s College of Education online graduate program was ranked third in the country.
“We continue to offer innovative online programs, such as our M.S. in curriculum and instruction and our Ed.D. in educational leadership and policy, that suit the needs of professionals in the field of education,” said Marcy Driscoll, dean of the College of Education.

For the second year in a row, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide was ranked the best online bachelor’s program. UF's online bachelor’s program was No. 19, compared to No. 11 last year. FSU and University of Central Florida were ranked 33.
FSU's College of Criminology and Criminal Justice’s online graduate program remained in the top 10 at No. 7.
The College of Communication and Information’s online graduate program in information technology landed at No. 11, increasing 10 spots from last year in computer information technology.
The College of Nursing’s online graduate program placed 43rd in the country, up from No. 54. FSU and Florida Atlantic University are tied with the top online graduate nursing programs in the state.
“Our upward movement in the U.S. News online rankings demonstrates Florida State University’s across-the-board commitment to excellence,” Sally McRorie, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs said. “This recognition mirrors our outstanding recent gains in overall national rankings and is another step toward our goal of being ranked among the Top 25 public universities.”
