Some general notes from the meeting that aren't mentioned in the slides:
- They're hoping to have the Moran School open downtime by mid-August 2017 which will hopefully be right around the opening of the new Ballard building next door.
- The EOAS building is awaiting funding.
- The two new residence halls are Azalea and Magnolia. Azalea (building 3 on the diagram) will have food services on the ground floor.
- The spectrograph magnet being installed in the basement of the Collins building weights 35 tons. It was acquired from Yale (they apparently no longer need it) on what the facilities folks jokingly referred to as the "academic craigslist". It is one of only two such magnets in the world. The other is in Germany and will apparently be decommissioned some time in the near future, leaving us with the only one. It was quite a feat to get it into the basement and installed.
- The Bellamy Atrium stuff is just a study, hasn't happened yet, might not happen. Same with the UCC lobby (Social Work is raising funds for it).
- Arena district and new College of Business are still pretty far off, need funds etc.
- Student Union replacement is probably a ways off too, but they eventually plan to start with the section that currently houses the Subway location. The concept rendering they showed was pretty nice. Since advertising the job, they have received tons of interest in this project from firms across the nation that specialize in student unions.
- Once they are both completed, the EOAS and new Union buildings will create a really beautiful gateway for the main entrance on the north side of campus.
- All the stuff at the end about the Northwest Campus Housing Study is at least 15-20 years off and as such is highly subject to change.
