"During her tenure, the school has risen to rank among the top 40 in the nation and it’s one of the largest with 5,755 students and 133 full-time faculty members. Beck-Dudley made entrepreneurship training a priority for students while also leading efforts to create a student incubator.
The college also includes 11 centers and institutes and seven academic departments. All FSU students, no matter their major, are now able to minor in entrepreneurship.
Beck-Dudley, a native of American Fork, Utah, has decided to be closer to family and lead entrepreneurial efforts as the new dean of the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, located in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley.
“Personally and professional it looks like a good next step,” she said. “I really enjoyed my time at FSU and have made great friends and colleagues.”
Beck-Dudley, 56, played a pivotal role in working with the FSU Foundation to generate more fundraising. She also led fundraising efforts for a $112-million capital campaign. A portion of that will be used to relocate the College of Business downtown to the proposed Arena District that includes the Tucker Civic Center, College Town and the proposed Madison Mile.
She said the school’s new location will be the new face of FSU — a place of learning, fellowship and innovation. Beck-Dudley, when thinking of her legacy, said she’s particularly proud of laying a foundation for such a project and the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“It will be a very welcoming place for people to be able to come onto the FSU campus. I’m very proud of how all of that has come together,” Beck-Dudley said. “It’s going to be cool. It will be where new businesses are hatched.”
She leaves FSU in July. Michael Hartline has been named the school’s interim dean. Hartline has served as a Charles A. Bruning professor of business and associate dean of strategic initiatives."
