Vs Ranked Teams
"Sporting News took a closer at how SEC teams have fared against ranked teams since 2009, according to StatsPass.com.
1. Alabama: 23-7, or .767 win percentage
2. LSU: 20-11, .645
3. South Carolina: 11-8, .579
4. Auburn: 14-13, .519
5. Texas A&M: 9-15, .375
6. Missouri: 8-14, .364
7. Georgia: 7-15, .318
8. Arkansas: 8-18, .308
9. Florida: 6-16, .273
10. Ole Miss: 4-16, .200
11. Mississippi State: 2-21, .087
12. Tennessee: 2-24, .083
13. Vanderbilt: 1-16, .059
14. Kentucky: 1-20, .048
Yeah, that's right - only four SEC teams have winning records against ranked opponents (of course, there are only 2 ACC teams with .500 or better records - Florida State and Louisville - but we're not discussing that right now).
What does this mean? Simply this: ACC teams should feel free to schedule any SEC team they want, as long as it isn't one of those top four.
Do NOT schedule Alabama, LSU, South Carolina or Auburn.
DO schedule Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Mississippi State.

As mentioned, the ACC didn't have a lot of teams which fared well against ranked opponents in the last five years, either. Here are SN's numbers:

10. Georgia Tech: 4-11, .267
11. North Carolina: 3-11, .214

13. Duke: 2-13, .133
14. Wake Forest: 1-12, .077
15. Boston College, 0-11, .000
BOTTOM LINE: Let's be honest - the ACC is coming off of one of the worst periods in its football history. Both Clemson and Georgia Tech are on losing streaks to their in-state SEC rivals (who have been ranked during this period), and Virginia Tech has lost a bunch of bowl games (and for some reason kept playing Alabama, too). IMO we should expect the next five years to look better - but only time will tell."
