"summary of meeting:

*FSU didn't have to compete for the Mag Lab. FSU will ask for a $250 Million grant instead of around $170 Million. Nice win for FSU.

*Always find it odd how say, we hear almost nothing about entire colleges more often then not, but each athletic team gets a decent amount of time going over returning starters of the women's softball team and such. Would like to see the BOT invest a lot more of that time in fixing some research issues and other academic infrastructure.

*FSU is at all time annual high funds raised $215. This includes the $100 Million gift but even without that, this is very close to highest ever raised.

*Little concerned of no mention this year of the noted '2nd large gift' in the pipeline that was noted last year right before the $100 Million gift. I hope that one hasn't gone away.

*Budget was $1.6 Billion

*Research is off by about $2 Million from last year (I think I heard that correct).

*One trustee was wearing some neon green jump suit and making odd comments about how she didn't understand the science reviewed during the research section. It was a bit...unusual.

*Joe Negron (Think he is next speaker) is pushing National Merits as a fix to "improve quality of Florida Higher Ed" or something akin to that. It is really just some push for somebodies name tied to it but it really doesn't use money efficiently and given FL doesn't spend much for higher ed, this is not a good plan. That said, I expect you to see more on this in the future.

*FSU has 17% alumni give rate to UF 12% (Only new college is higher than FSU). Impressive.

*FSU's endowment has fallen from $624 Million in Barron's last year to $578 million. It was mentioned there was some rebidding for something for the Foundation, but I wasn't sure if it was related to who is investing the money. FSU has fallen in the endowment rankings a good deal the last 10 years, so I hope this is the case.

*It was briefly addressed about next years state priorities, but I don't see FSU doing anything beyond standard ask for more money. Doesn't look like FSU will be working to expand the COM mission or try and add another valuable program.

*Boosters College Town Phase 3 was approved. They are changing direction for the overall direction from 'entertainment district' to 'food district'. Project has done well.
