CFB Tv Ratings thus Far-Pricing

Some commentary, Week one was probably the best ACC week EVER, it was really huge.

As I've commented constantly, the NBC and CBS B10 contracts SUCK. The B10 horrifically needs brands. This is the main reason why I've flipped 180 to the SEC if the B10 can't get FSU ND AND CLEMSON. They just don't have the brands outside the top 5 to carry tv ratings EVERY week. Ohio St playing the b10 noon game EVERY week for 6 consecutive weeks last year was not a fluke.

ESPN ratings have SKYROCKETED this year. Week 1 and week 2 games will become a staple because you can play the brands before they have a losing season, if they are bad. I predicted several years ago that bowls would become kickoff games at some point rather than post season games.

Housing, dining and parking: How FSU will transform its northwest campus, starting in 2026

Housing, dining and parking: How FSU will transform its northwest campus, starting in 2026

Next year, the Florida State University community can expect to see what will be a massive transformation on the northwest side of campus.

Here’s why: FSU will start constructing new residence halls, a new dining hall and more.

While plans for a 1,200-bed residence hall at FSU is currently in the design phase, the university is looking to start construction on the future housing facility as well as an attached dining hall sometime next year

But that’s not all – as the university gears up to start constructing the new facilities in 2026, it will start building a parking garage on campus this fall. The future developments will all be located at the northwest corner of Call Street and Chieftan Way.

In addition, two to three residence halls with a combined total of about 1,300 beds will replace FSU’s Rogers, McCollum and Salley halls, which will all be closed in 2028 following the completion of the 1,200-bed residence hall as the new facilities start being constructed afterward.

“This project will modernize the northwest part of campus into a community that aligns with FSU’s other residence halls,” Shannon Staten, FSU’s Executive Director of University Housing and Childcare Center, said in a statement sent to the Tallahassee Democrat Aug. 2. “It increases on-campus housing from 6,707 to 8,200 beds.”

According to the university’s master plan, the area is underutilized as it contains an abundance of surface parking.

The residents of Rogers, McCollum and Salley Halls will move into the new 1,200-bed building as the three older housing facilities will be demolished to make room for Phase II buildings that will consist of about 1,300 beds total.

In January, the university finalized the purchase of the former Regal Governor's Square movie theater after the facility permanently closed the previous month.

It will be used to showcase films produced by students, faculty members and alumni.

The 43,242 square-foot theater has 12 auditoriums, and the first step would be to operate it as a theater.

FSU officials previously said plans are underway to relocate the college’s Center for Cinematic Innovation, known as Torchlight Studios, from Midway in Gadsden County to the new site.

The area will be turned into a flat gravel lot considered for parking.

While namesake Burt Reynolds was not a financial contributor to the building, Seminole Boosters, Inc. wanted to pay tribute to the former FSU football player and Hollywood icon.

Reynolds, who died in 2018, attended the ribbon cutting and dedication in 1987, along with wife Loni Anderson and fellow actors Dom DeLuise, Bernie Casey and Ricardo Montalban.

Seminole Boosters, Inc., previously owned the 60-unit complex on Hayden Road for 36 years, selling it to the FSU Research Foundation in 2020.

No time to stand still: SEC needs Florida State, Clemson to close gap with Big Ten

No time to stand still: SEC needs Florida State, Clemson to close gap with Big Ten

Let me take you back to 2024, and an offseason of discontent in the ACC.

Florida State and Clemson so desperately wanted out of the cash-strapped conference, they were willing to pay nearly half a billion dollars to do it — if they could just find any takers.

Hello, Greg Sankey? Clemson and Florida State on Line 1. It's your move, again.

What FSU did to SEC heavyweight Alabama last weekend, and what Clemson nearly did to LSU, should make clear what was obvious all along. To Sankey, the most powerful man in college sports and SEC commissioner, and anyone else in earshot.

Florida State and Clemson are SEC schools. They look the part, they play the part. Everything they do screams SEC big boy football.

So if your Sankey, you pick up the phone when the Clemson and Florida State presidents call again (because at some point, they will), and reply with one simple yet resounding plan of action. The Tigers and Seminoles pay all exit fees and leave no monetary or legal strings attached to the ACC, and they're welcome in the SEC.

Because the narrative that FSU and Clemson don’t bring “value” to the SEC has always been a strawman argument.

No one – I mean, no one – believes a team that has played in seven of the 11 College Football Playoffs (and won two by beating, you know, Alabama) doesn’t bring value to the SEC. No one believes Florida State, one of the top television properties in college sports (even during a 2-10 season), doesn’t add value to the SEC.

If ESPN paid pro rata for Texas and Oklahoma to join the SEC, they'll certainly pay the same for Clemson and Florida State.

Look, the 16 SEC presidents know the Seminoles and Tigers would be mega athletic and financial additions to the conference, on the level of Texas and Oklahoma. And truth be told, the SEC needs them in the football-driven world of college sports.

The bully on the block hasn’t won a national title since 2023, and was knocked to its knees in Tallahassee and Columbus, and nearly in Clemson, to begin this season.

I know this is difficult for the good folks at the SEC offices in Birmingham, Alabama, to hear, but the Big Ten has put space between itself and the SEC. On the field, and as a revenue-generating entity.

Sankey has never been one to stand still, and is always looking to make the SEC better and stronger. His first big expansion move (Texas and Oklahoma) was a no-brainer, and came crawling to his door.

Florida State and Clemson will do the same. It’s only a matter of taking the call and providing the parameters.

Clemson #10 5.419

Its kind of a no brainer for the conferences and for ESPN and Fox to want FSU and Clemson to be with the brands in the SEC or Big Ten.
